Authorizing the Payment to the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center for Basic LE Academy Training of Six (6) New Police Recruits


Body
Whereas, pursuant to a two-thirds vote of the Village Board of Trustees, the Board may waive the requirements of the Village Code of Ordinances and the Illinois Municipal Code to competitively bid certain contracts for the procurement of goods and services or performance of certain work; and

Whereas, the Village of Romeoville desires to waive the bidding process for the professional services of the Macon County Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy for six (6) new recruits; and

Whereas, Due to Covid-19, the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Academy in Decatur, Illinois is the only state approved facility with available room to register and train the new police recruits; and

Whereas, the Police Department will be using $42,000.00 from the current approved 2020-2021 budget funds.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION ONE. The forgoing Recitals are hereby incorporated into this resolution as if fully set forth in this Section 1.

SECTION TWO. The competitive bidding process of the Village of Romeoville Code of Ordinances and the Illinois Municipal Code is hereby waived, and staff of the Village are hereby authorized and directed to submit payment the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Academy for the training of the six (6) new police recruits, with the cost not to exceed $42,000.00 in approved 2020-2021 budget funds.

SECTION THREE. That the various provisions of this Resolution are to be considered severable and if any part or portion of this Resolution shall be held invalid by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this Resolution
