AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 80

“TRAFFIC SCHEDULES” SCHEDULE IX,

OF THE ROMEOVILLE CODE OF ORDINANCES

PERTAINING TO SPEED RESTRICTIONS

WHEREAS, the Village has adopted certain ordinances now codified as and for Chapter 80, Schedule IX of the Village Code of Ordinances, pertaining to speed restrictions; and

 

WHEREAS, after Village staff review, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of the Village to amend said Chapter 80, Schedule IX of the Village Code of Ordinances as hereinafter set forth.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, that Chapter 80, Schedule IX of the Romeoville Code of Ordinance be amended to include the following:

 

                     SECTION 1:  RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.

 

                     SECTION 2:  AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 80 SCHEDULE IX OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF ORDINANCES. That all those heretofore adopted ordinances of the Village codified as and for Chapter 80 Traffic Schedules Chapter IX Speed Restrictions of the Village Code of Ordinances shall hereby be revised to read as hereinafter set forth below:

                     

SCHEDULE IX: SPEED RESTRICTIONS.

 

                     The speed limit at all times on all roadways within the corporate limits of the Village will be 25 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. Speed restrictions shall be enforced in the following locations.

 

A.                     The maximum speed limit on Taylor Road beginning at the intersection of Taylor Road and Weber Road and ending at the westernmost boundary of the Village (Frontage Road) for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

B.                     The maximum speed limit on 135th Street (Romeo Road) beginning at the westernmost boundary of the Village Recreation property located at 900 West Romeo Road westerly to the intersection of 135th Street and Weber Road for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

C.                     The maximum speed limit on 135th Street (Romeo Road) from Route 53 (Independence Boulevard) to Macon Avenue for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

D.                     The maximum speed limit on Budler Road north and south from Taylor Road to Airport Road for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

 

 

E.                     The maximum speed limit on Schmidt Road for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

F.                     The maximum speed limit on Crossroads Parkway for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

G.                     The maximum speed limit on Grand Boulevard from Romeo Road to Anna Lane for all vehicles shall be 20 miles per hour.

 

H.                     The maximum speed limit on Pinnacle Drive for the interval beginning at .18 miles south of Key Largo Drive to Taylor Road for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

I.                     The maximum speed limit on Belmont Drive for the interval beginning at .21 miles south of Hamrick Avenue to Taylor Road for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

J.                     The maximum speed limit on Normantown Road from Route 53 (Independence Boulevard) to Dalhart Avenue for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

K.                     The maximum speed limit on Normantown Road from Montrose Drive to Weber Road for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.                     

 

L.                     The maximum speed limit on Normantown Road from Weber Road to the west entrance of Rasmussen College (1400 W. Normantown Road) for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

M.                     The maximum speed limit on Normantown Road from the west entrance to Rasmussen College (1400 W. Normantown Road) to a location .2 miles north of 135 Street for all vehicles shall be 40 miles per hour.

 

N.                     The maximum speed limit on Normantown Road from a location .2 miles north of 135 Street to 135 Street for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

O.                     The maximum speed limit on 135 Street (Romeo Road) from New Avenue to Rt. 53 (Independence Boulevard) for all vehicles shall be 40 mph.

 

P.                     The maximum speed limit on Taylor Road from Rt. 53 (Independence Boulevard) for one half mile west for all vehicles shall be 30 miles per hour.

 

Q.                     The maximum speed limit on Taylor Road, from one half mile west of Rt. 53 (Independence Boulevard) to Southcreek Parkway for all vehicles shall be 40 miles per hour.

 

R.                     The maximum speed limit on Taylor Road from Southcreek Parkway to Weber Road for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

S.                     The maximum speed on Southcreek Parkway from Taylor Road to Chicago Tube Drive for all vehicles shall be 40 miles per hour.

 

 

 

T.                     The maximum speed on Southcreek Parkway from Chicago Tube Drive to a location .25 miles east of Pinnacle Drive (on curve) for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.  This is near the location where Southcreek Parkway ends and Airport Road begins.

 

U.                     The maximum speed on Airport Road from Southcreek Parkway to Weber Road for all vehicles shall be 40 miles per hour.

 

V.                     The maximum speed on Airport Road from Weber Road to a location .5 miles west of Weber Road for all vehicles shall be 40 miles per hour.

 

W.                     The maximum speed limit on Airport Road from a location .5 miles west of Weber Road to Frontage Road for all vehicles shall be 35 miles per hour.

 

                     SECTION 3:  SEVERABILITY. That the various provisions of this Ordinance are to be considered severable and if any part or portion of this Ordinance shall be held invalid by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this Ordinance.

 

                     SECTION 4: CONFLICTS. All prior Ordinances and Resolutions, or parts thereof in conflict or inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby expressly repealed only to the extent of such conflict or inconsistency.

 

                     SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
