AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM TAX RATES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE AND AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE MANAGER AND FINANCE DIRECTOR TO MAKE THE APPROPRIATE ADJUSTMENTS AND ABATEMENTS TO THE 2018 TAX LEVY FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, the Village of Romeoville has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, moral and welfare; and
WHEREAS, December 5, 2018 the Village of Romeoville adopted Ordinance No. 18-1523 which established the tax levy for the Village of Romeoville as abated; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire and intention of the Village President and Village Board that the Village of Romeoville tax levy will generate a maximum tax rate not to exceed 1.1000 per one hundred dollars of equalized assessed value; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire and intention of the Village President and Village Board that the Village of Romeoville Fire tax levy will generate a maximum tax rate not to exceed .2300 per one hundred dollars of equalized assessed value; and
WHEREAS, the Village President and Village Board hereby authorize the County Clerk of Will County, at the direction of the Village Manager and Finance Director, to make the appropriate adjustments and abatements in the 2018 tax levy for the Village of Romeoville.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND THE VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
Section 1: The Village President and Village Board hereby determine and declare that the Village of Romeoville Maximum Tax Rate not to exceed 1.1000 per one hundred dollars of equalized assessed value.
