An Ordinance Amending Chapter 115 (Hawkers, Peddlers, Solicitors and Transient Vendors)

WHEREAS, the Village has adopted certain ordinances now codified as and for Chapter 115 (Hawkers, Peddlers, Solicitors and Transient Vendors) of the Village Code of Ordinances; and

WHEREAS, after Village staff review, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of the Village to amend certain sections of the Ordinance.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT:

SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 115.06. That all those heretofore adopted ordinances of the Village codified as and for Section 115.06 of the Village Code of Ordinances shall hereby be revised to include the following, to be codified as and for a new Chapter 115.06(N):
(N) No person shall distribute any gratuitously offered or provided matter of any kind or description from any motor vehicle while such vehicle is in motion or while the engine of such vehicle is running.
SECTION 3: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 115.09. That all those heretofore adopted ordinances of the Village codified as and for Section 115.09 of the Village Code of Ordinances shall hereby be revised to include the following, to be codified as and for a new Chapter 115.09(D):
(D) Occupants of any residence within the Village who desire to prohibit solicitation of any kind for which registration is required under this Chapter upon their residence premises may further provide the Village with their residence address on a form provided by the Village to have the address of such residence placed within a registry maintained by the Village for the purpose of recording the addresses of residences at which occupants so desire to prohibit solicitation.
