An Ordinance Amending the Designating Ordinance of the Village of Romeoville in Connection with the Des Plaines River Valley Enterprise Zone

WHEREAS, in 2014, the Village of Romeoville entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the County of Will, the City of Joliet, the Village of Lockport and the Village of Rockdale to establish a joint enterprise zone to be known as the Des Plaines River Valley Enterprise Zone, which agreement was later amended to include the Village of Romeoville; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with said agreement and the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act (20 ILCS 655/5.1 et seq.) the Mayor and Village Board adopted Ordinance No. 14-1166 designating certain territory within the Village of Romeoville as an enterprise zone , and such designations which as deemed necessary are done from time to time, and approved and certified by the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois subsequently approved and certified the joint enterprise zone and subsequent expansion to include the territory as depicted in Exhibit A within the Village of Romeoville; and
WHEREAS, the parties last amended the zone boundaries in the Intergovernmental Agreement and the Designative Ordinance of each party in 2024; and
WHEREAS, on July 9, 2025, a public notice and public hearing regarding the foregoing proposal will be held as required by Section 5.4 of the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act, where the Board of Directors of the Des Plaines River Valley Enterprise Zone will recommend that this Amendment be adopted by the corporate authorities of the parties.
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Romeoville hereby find and determine that the amendment of the zone is in the best interest of the Village of Romeoville; and
WHEREAS, this Ordinance is adopted in accordance with the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act and pursuant to the powers of the Village of Romeoville.
