AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A VARIANCE FROM THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTERS 91 AND 150 (FIRE PREVENTION AND BUILDING-EXTENDED TRAVEL ACCESS DISTANCE-1125 Remington Boulevard, Romeoville, Illinois)

WHEREAS, Harrington Group has applied on behalf of the owner or occupant of 1125 Remington Boulevard, Romeoville, Illinois 60446 for variances from the provisions of the 2009 International Fire Code and the 2009 International Building Code, as amended within the Village of Romeoville, to permit the extension of the maximum travel access distance within the building to not more than 400 feet without a requirement of a mechanical smoke exhaust system, subject to the conditions that the building maintain a roof height in excess of 24 feet, is predominantly a Group S-1 occupancy and is protected throughout with an automatic fire sprinkler system; and
WHEREAS, Village staff has reviewed the application for variance submitted by the Harrington Group, and has determined that the building referenced within the application presently satisfies the proposed variance conditions; and
WHEREAS, the provision of the aforementioned exit distance of not more than 400 feet is in compliance with the applicable provisions of both the 2015 International Building Code and the 2015 International Fire Code.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT:
SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: VARIANCE. The provisions of the 2009 International Fire Code and the 2009 International Building Code, as adopted and locally amended by Chapter 91 and 150 of the Village Code of Ordinances, are hereby varied to permit a maximum travel access distance not in excess of 400 feet, without a requirement of a mechanical smoke exhaust system, subject to the conditions that the building maintain a roof height in excess of 24...
