An Ordinance Amending Chapter 151 Housing/Property Maintenance Codes, Section 151.03

WHEREAS, the Village of Romeoville has heretofore adopted certain ordinances now codified as and for Chapter 151 of the Village Code of Ordinances and as other provisions of the Village Code of Ordinances setting forth and adopting various model codes as and for the Village's building regulation standards; and

WHEREAS, a periodic review of the ordinances of the Village of Romeoville has indicated that certain revisions to Section 151.03 are necessary; and

WHEREAS, after Village staff review, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of the Village to amend certain sections of the Ordinance.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT:

SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: Section 151.03 of those Village Ordinances codified as Chapter 151 shall be hereby amended by deleting it in its entirety and inserting the following:
151.03 ADOPTION OF 2021 INTERNATIONAL PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE.
The village hereby adopts by reference as if fully set forth herein the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code, as set forth in ? 150.10, together with all local amendments set forth in said ? 150.10, as and for the Property Maintenance Code of the village, which shall apply to all residential and nonresidential structures and other existing premises within the village, and which shall establish minimum standards for the maintenance and upkeep of such premises, buildings and structures and the equipment and systems thereof with respect to lighting, ventilation, space, heating, sanitation, protection from the elements, life safety, safety from fire and other hazards, occupancy, and for the administration and enforcement of all such standards.
