Amending Chapter 156 of the Village Code of Ordinances - Residential Rental Property Licensing and Crime Free Housing

WHEREAS, the Village of Romeoville has adopted certain ordinances now codified as
and for Chapter 156 of the Village Code of Ordinances setting forth and establishing certain
regulations regarding the rental property licensing and crime free housing within the Village limits, including definitions, rental property provisions, crime free housing requirements, and inspection requirements established by said Chapter 156; and
WHEREAS, after Village staff review, it has been determined that it is in the best interest
of the Village to amend Chapter 156 of the Village Code of Ordinances to revise to add certain definitions in this this chapter.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT:
SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 156.03 OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF ORDINANCES. All those heretofore adopted ordinances of the Village of Romeoville codified as and for Chapter 156.03 of the Village Code of Ordinances are herby amended to read as hereinafter set forth:
156.03 DEFINITIONS,
"GUEST." Means an individual who is present at a tenant's dwelling unit by invitation, consent, permission, or assent of the lawful tenant, and who is not an owner, occupant, or tenant of that dwelling unit. A Guest remains classified as such only while the individual's stay does not exceed thirty (30) consecutive calendar days. Any individual who remains in the dwelling unit beyond thirty (30) consecutive days shall no longer be considered a Guest and shall be treated as an Occupant or Tenant for the purposes of this Ordinance.
"OVERNIGHT VISITOR." Means a Guest who remains within a dwelling unit for more than twelve (12) consecutive hours, including dur...
