An Ordinance Granting a Variance from the Provisions of Chapter 150 (BUILDING-ELECTRICAL--Conductors-501 W. Taylor Road, Romeoville, Illinois)

WHEREAS, Howard S. Chez and Associates, PC, has applied on behalf of the owner or occupant of 501 W. Taylor Road, Romeoville, Illinois 60446 for variances from the provisions of the 2014 National Electrical Code, as amended within the Village of Romeoville in Section 150.04(C), to permit the use of Stabloy aluminum conductors or their equivalent, subject to the conditions that the same shall be greater than 3/0 in size, and may only be used for the connection of backup electrical generators to the building electrical distribution system and for no other application or purpose; and
WHEREAS, Village staff has reviewed the application for variance submitted by Howard S. Chez and Associates, PC, and has determined that the building referenced within the application presently satisfies or will as constructed satisfy the proposed variance conditions; and
WHEREAS, the additional flexibility and reduced weight of the proposed Stabloy or equivalent aluminum conductor will facilitate the installation of the backup generator by providing an installation option that offers greater flexibility at a reduced weight; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of the 2014 National Electrical Code would, in the absence of the local Village of Romeoville amendment contained in Section 150.04(C) of the Village Code of Ordinances, otherwise permit the use of the proposed Stabloy or equivalent aluminum conductor in accordance with the conditions herein set forth.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT:
SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
