An Ordinance Amending Chapter 73 (Stopping, Standing and Parking)

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Village to amend certain provisions of Chapter 73 pertaining to parking violations as hereinafter set forth.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE VILLAGE OF ROMEOVILLE, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS; THAT
:
SECTION 1: RECITALS. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into this Ordinance as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 73.11(B). All those heretofore adopted Village Ordinances codified as and for Section 73.11(B) of the Village Code shall hereby be repealed and deleted in their entirety.
SECTION 3: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 73.99(A). All those heretofore adopted Village Ordinances codified as and for Section 73.99(A) of the Village Code shall hereby be amended to read as set forth below:
(A) Generally.
(1) Effective for parking violation notices or citations issued on or after June 3, 2026 for violations of any applicable provision of this Code regulating or prohibiting parking in designated areas or for parking for designated periods of time in certain areas, the fine for such violations shall be $30 except where otherwise specifically provided for in this Code.
(2) Every person who violates any provision of this chapter and who fails to pay a parking violation notice or citation issued pursuant to Section 73.99(A) shall, unless otherwise specified, be punished by a fine of no less than $50 nor more than $200.
SECTION 4: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 73.99(D). All those heretofore adopted Village Ordinances codified as and for Section 73.99(D) of the Village Code of Ordinances shall hereby be amended to read as set forth below:
(D) Snow Emergency Route or Other Snow-Related Parking Violations. Violations of Chapter 79, Schedule II of this Code or of any other provision of this Code regulating or prohibiting parking in designated areas or for designated periods of time where such violations occur on public roads or streets of the Village after a 24 hour snowfall causes an accumulation of 2 inches or more of snow on any public roads or streets of the Village and prior to the completion of snow removal operations shall be subject to a fine of $50.
SECTION 5: SEVERABILITY. That the various provisions of this Ordinance are to be considered severable and if any part or portion of this Ordinance shall be held invalid by any Court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this Ordinance.
SECTION 6 REPEALER. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be, and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 7: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
